Track Overview

Mid Ohio Sports Car Course opened in 1962 under the direction of Les Griebling, who envisioned a technical road course that would challenge drivers with elevation changes and complex corner sequences. Over the decades, the track became a cornerstone of American motorsports, hosting CART, IndyCar, IMSA, and major motorcycle championships that helped build its national reputation. A major renovation in 1990 improved safety barriers, repaved the surface, and expanded spectator areas to accommodate growing crowds. Additional upgrades in the early 2000s modernized the paddock and enhanced runoff zones, making the facility safer for high speed competition. Many legendary drivers including Bobby Rahal, Scott Dixon, and Michael Andretti have claimed victories here, adding to the track’s storied legacy.
