Track Overview
Lorain Raceway Park opened in 1949 as a dirt oval before being paved around 1960 to become the three eighths mile asphalt track known today. The track is famous for its egg shaped layout and moderate banking, which challenged drivers and produced unique racing lines. Over the decades, Lorain hosted late models, modifieds, and street stocks, and became known as a proving ground for future stars including Benny Parsons, Tim Richmond, Michael Waltrip, and Davey Allison. Ownership changes and financial struggles in the 2020s created uncertainty, and by 2026 the track was listed for sale with no confirmed schedule. Despite its uncertain future, Lorain remains an iconic part of Ohio short track history.
